Leila Shams for Anthropology loungewear

This project was created for Leila Shams as a loungewear capsule for Anthropology. The challenge was to create an appropriate product for Anthropology while maintaining the Leila Shams brand DNA. I analyzed loungewear-relevant trends in color, silhouette and details from the runway, retail and street. Using this analysis, I sketched market appropriate products to provide strong visual support in directing design concept. Strong focus on dip-dye and drop-waist trend.

A rise in 'deconstruction' in collections from up-and-coming brands like Katie Gallagher and Aje and street style near major fashion school campuses, triggered the direction of Bebe Addiction's Holiday 2010 capsule collection, "Deconstructed Glamour." The deconstructed trend, channeling Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo, was translated to the Bebe brand through figure-flattering diagonal seams, unconventional placement of polished zippers, raw hems, knit and woven mix, monochromatic embellishments, fabric manipulation and sheer paneling. Bebe Addiction achieved 25% sell through in 1 week and sold out many items within week 2 of deliveries. Addiction dresses achieved highest sell-through and markup of all categories.
